The Children’s Department at the Chelsea Public Library serves children from preschool age to middle school age, as well as their parents, guardians, teachers, and caregivers. The staff is available to help you explore the library, find materials and answer your questions. The library offers story hours, Internet access, tours, advice on books to read, as well as educational and entertaining programs. The Children’s Department holds a wide assortment of fiction, folktale, picture books, nonfiction, audiovisual materials, reference materials, and public computers, as well as online resources. Books, CDs, books on CD, books with CDs and magazines may be checked out. The Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea is a multifaceted health care facility available to eligible veterans of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Soldiers’ Home is inspected annually by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the Department of Public Health.

The Chelsea Soldiers’ Home is a state-funded, fully accredited health care complex that offers veterans quality care, full-time residential accommodations and multi-service out-patient department. The tradition of service to our nation’s veterans is surpassed only by our continuing commitment to excellence in care for those who are in need now and in the future.

It is the mission of Chelsea Youth Basketball League (CYBL) to provide and promote a safe, recreational basketball program for our youth of Chelsea. To this end, CYBL encourages good sportsmanship, developing strong playing skills, and promoting friendly relationships among the players, coaches, referees and parents.

For over twenty years Chelsea Youth Basketball League has been providing an excellent opportunity for boys and girls to learn about and enjoy the wonderful game of basketball. Over the years, the league has continued to grow and now serves between 250 – 300 boys and girls, ranging in ages from 5-14. The league strives to maintain as its primary goal, to provide a fun, safe, recreational environment to play basketball.

The mission of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is to invest in the social capitol of the community by assisting residents in achieving self-sufficiency and quality in their lives through the delivery and coordination of services. HHS oversees the Divisions of the Library, Elder Affairs, Health, Workforce Development, Veterans Affairs, and Community Schools and Recreation. HHS staffs the following boards: Board of Health, Council on Elder Affairs, Library Trustees, Community Schools Advisory Board, Chelsea Human Rights Commission, and Weed and Seed Steering Committee. The Administration of HHS assists residents who come to City Hall seeking help after they have exhausted all other options. These have included individuals who are homeless, disabled, hungry and in need of work. Staff have spent hundreds of hours collectively in trying to locate housing, food, clothing, medical care, shelter, legal advocacy, jobs and other emergency constituent needs.
