About this training: Join us to learn how to help your child understand the risks that go along with social media, gaming, and just being online – and what to do if you’re ever worried about their safety. Together, we hope to reduce harm and prevent exploitation, cyberbullying, and more by teaching youth a simple message: Stop, Block, and Talk.While caregivers and professionals can’t always prevent youth from having upsetting and even risky online encounters, they can always make sure that young people know they can talk to adults about things that make them feel uncomfortable, and teach them how to respond when such an incident occurs. In this workshop, we will:
-
Explore the risks and rewards of popular social media apps, websites, and games used by youth today;
-
Share strategies for increasing youth safety online, including applying recommended privacy settings; and
-
Discuss the best approaches to talking with youth about online safety and being kind online.
