The City of Chelsea is developing a plan to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries in our community, thanks to a $280,000 Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
We’re looking for (3) residents to join our Safe Streets For All Steering Committee overseeing the plan’s development, ensuring it reflects the concerns of the community. Apply by Feb. 10.
These (3) residents will join forces with members of the Chelsea Police, Fire, Housing + Community Development, and Public Works Departments and will make a direct and meaningful impact on the safety and wellbeing of fellow Chelsea residents.
This initiative aims to save lives and improve overall public safety, which ultimately benefits everyone in the community, including taxpayers. Eliminating traffic fatalities is a long-term investment that can reduce healthcare costs, improve quality of life, and make the city more attractive to residents and businesses.
The funding provided by the United States Department of Transportation is a unique opportunity that minimizes the financial burden on local taxpayers.
Traffic safety projects often have broad support, as they create safer streets for drivers, not just pedestrians and cyclists, and public input through the committee will ensure the plan is responsive to community needs and concerns.
Youth are encouraged to apply. Selected residents will be offered a $500 stipend.
