Ryan Barry is the Regional Coordinator of the MassCALL3 Youth Substance Use Prevention grant serving the communities of Chelsea, Revere, and Saugus. While he’s “technically” an employee for the city of Chelsea, Ryan calls Healthy Chelsea home through this collaborative grant aimed at preventing first time use of substances among young people.
The goal of the grant is to promote equitable policies and practices using the strategic prevention framework, a guiding structure to assess, implement, evaluate, and sustain strategies with effective health outcomes. Ryan hopes to build upon the existing structure and relationships of his previous grant with Healthy Chelsea, the Substance Abuse Prevention Collaborative (SAPC), to provide an expansive array of programming and policy that is community focused and equity driven.
He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in public health from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys teaching part time at a local community college, kayaking, listening to music, spending time with friends and family, and performing improv.
