FoodCorps at Healthy Chelsea
Since 2016 Healthy Chelsea has been a proud partner of FoodCorps, a national nonprofit focused on advancing equity through food. FoodCorps focuses on three areas of service in their communities, providing hands-on lessons for youth, maintaining nourishing school meals and building a culture of health in the school community.
- Lead hands on lessons with students grades K-3 learning how to grow and prepare nutritious foods
- Encourage students to try new foods in the cafeteria through taste tests
- Foster a culture of health by celebrating students’ identities through food and support community initiatives striving for food justice

Keeping Active
Healthy Chelsea and our coalition partners, The Neighborhood Developers and Social Capital Inc., have combined forces to form #WalkWednesday, a year-round walking group, to promote exercise, introduce parks and other areas of the city and create social capital. Every Wednesday morning a Community Health Leader guides up to 20 walkers on a different route. When not under pandemic restrictions the walk ends with coffee and conversation at a local coffee shop.
