The “BEACON”, a magnificent 12-foot-tall steel, interactive LED public art sculpture is on view in Chelsea until October.

Come and celebrate the life and scientific achievements of Lewis H. Latimer (1848-1928), the African American pioneer inventor, electrical engineer, and patent draftsman born in Chelsea in 1848.

Lewis H. Latimer played critical roles in the development of the telephone and the commercialization of the incandescent light bulb.  He worked with three of America’s most celebrated inventors, Alexander Graham Bell, Hiram S. Maxim, and Thomas Edison.

Featuring sculpture artist Shervone Neckles, in collaboration with the BEAM Center, NY and presented by the Lewis Latimer House Museum, New York.

Hosted by the CHELSEA LEWIS H. LATIMER SOCIETY & MUSEUM and the City of Chelsea.

“BEACON”, una magnífica escultura de arte público de LED interactiva de acero de 12 pies de altura, estará a la vista en Chelsea hasta octubre.

Venga y celebre la vida y los logros científicos de Lewis H. Latimer (1848-1928), el pionero inventor afroamericano, ingeniero eléctrico y dibujante de patentes nacido en Chelsea en 1848.

Lewis H. Latimer jugó un papel fundamental en el desarrollo del teléfono y la comercialización de la bombilla incandescente. Trabajó con tres de los inventores más célebres de Estados Unidos, Alexander Graham Bell, Hiram S. Maxim y Thomas Edison.
