Healthy Families Home Visitors
The Home Visitor works with first time parents under the age 23 from birth until the child turns 3 years old. Through attuned interactions, HFM staff encourage participants at their own pace to develop the knowledge, skills, and support networks that will enable them to be strong, resilient parents with access to the resources needed to successfully manage their lives and be the best advocates for themselves and their children.
Position Requirements: High School Degree and bilingual. Car is required. Position is hybrid and out of our Charlestown location. Role serves families in the Harbor Area
Intensive Foster Care Family Resource Coordinator
The Family Resource Coordinator/Social Worker for Intensive Foster Care is a member of our Bridges Homeward Family Services/IFC Team responsible for recruitment, assessment, training and support of foster parents in our Intensive Foster Care Program
Position Requirements: Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with relevant child welfare experience. This position is full time and requires a car. Position is hybrid out of our Cambridge location
Family Specialist, Developmental Disabilities Program
The Family Support Specialist is a member of Bridges Homeward’s Developmental Disabilities Program team, and assists families, children, youth and adult family members referred by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) in developing life skills, setting and achieving goals, assisting in accessing resources needed to obtain goals, engaging in activities in the community, and working on behavioral and educational challenges.
Position Requirements: Spanish Speaking preferred . Bachelor’s degree. 3 years’ experience working with families, children and adults with developmental disabilities may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 1 year’s experience in working with families, children and adults with developmental disabilities. The position is full time and requires a car. Position is hybrid out of our Cambridge location.
Direct Support Provider/Skills Trainers positions are part time and are part of our co-employment model with families in our Developmental Disability Program. Their primary responsibility it to assist individuals who are living in their home in improving their life skills and gaining more independence. They may help individuals to schedule appointments and to arrange for transportation for the appointments. They may help them apply for benefits or employment. Most importantly, they will help the individual be involved in community activities. Hours and goals vary based on the needs of the individual and their budget provided by the state. Current opportunities:
Waltham: Opportunity to work with a sweet, funny, shy young woman who is 22 years old, on the Autism Spectrum, living in Waltham with her parents and her dog and cat. She loves arts and crafts, drawing and painting, board games and playing cards, clothes shopping and everything Disney! Seeking a responsible, engaging person with experience working with people with special needs who will be a skills trainer/companion for this young woman. Job entails accompanying this client on community outings as well as participating in fun activities with her at her home. Goals are to help her develop her social and community skills and to increase her independence with activities of daily living. Flexible weekday daytime hours: three 3-4 hour shifts to start with.
Waltham: Opportunity to work with an intelligent young adult who is looking for help with emotional regulation, executive functioning skills, and making social connections. Ideal candidate is patient, kind, and calm. Candidate must have experience working with individuals with disabilities. Ideally, the candidate has experience developing healthy coping skills and dealing with emotional de-escalation. 3 hours/week, weekends preferred. Waltham, MA.
Arlington: Sassy, smart, caring older women looking for someone to work with her a couple hours a week. She is looking for someone that is social and active with experience of working with people with different abilities. She would like someone that can help her with activities out in the community such as going to doctor’s appointments, going food shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat while out with her worker. Her favorite thing to do on a nice afternoon is going to Starbucks to enjoy some coffee and the weather. Candidate must have a reliable transportation and able to drive in the evening. She would also really appreciate a worker that is patient and able to assist her with scheduling doctor’s appointments. She is looking for someone to work 8 hours a week, preferably Mondays and Fridays in the afternoons. Arlington, MA. Competitive rate.
Concord: Seeking a mature person (male or female) with some experience to be a Direct Support Provider to our adult son who is 37yrs old with Down Syndrome. He is quiet and shy at first, but he likes watching detective shows, doing art projects, and having indoor visits. A goal is to expand these interest to outdoor activities someday. Outdoor activities can be a simple lunch outing or art projects outside. 3 to 6 hours a week at $20/hour. Reliable transportation needed.
