COVID-19 Vaccination Information

Adults Ages 75 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine and can start scheduling appointments. 

As additional groups become eligible for the vaccine, the City of Chelsea will keep the public notified.

Mystic Valley Elder Services offers free transportation services to eligible seniors to COVID-19 vaccine sites near your home. You are responsible for making your vaccine appointment. Make sure to call (781) 324-7705 in plenty of time.

How can I make an appointment?
Please read the following steps carefully to make an appointment.

Step 1: Determine eligibility

  • You must be Ages 75 and older
  • You DO NOT need insurance
  • You DO NOT need to share your immigration status
  • The vaccine is free and safe.

Step 2:  Schedule an Appointment

Because the vaccine supply is limited and the demand is high, you may have to wait several weeks or longer for a scheduled appointment at this Broadway location.

Patients of MGH, Cambridge Health Alliance or Beth Israel, your health care provider may contact you with information on their own vaccination efforts.

  • Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare .Patients can call 781-744-8000 to schedule an appointment. BIDH will host a vaccination site at 1100 Revere Beach Parkway next to Home Depot in Parkway Plaza Shopping Center starting on Thurs. Feb. 4.
  • CHA (Cambridge Health Alliance)
    Patients will get contacted by CHA to schedule an appointment. Patients can schedule their appointment themselves on CHA’s MyCHART. If a person is age 75 or older and has a primary care doctor at CHA, but does not get contacted, they can call the CHA vaccine hotline at 617-665-1995 to make their first vaccine appointment.

Step 3:  Bring proof of eligibility to your appointment.

  • Identification(*), examples include:
    • Employer-issued ID card that includes your name and title; or
    • Government-issued identification or license; or
    • Recent paystub
  • Insurance card. Vaccination is free whether you have insurance or not.  If you have insurance, please bring that information with you.

* You will get a vaccine even if you don’t have a driver’s license or a social security number or can’t otherwise provide proof of identity.

Step 4: Schedule your second dose appointment.  With the current approved COVID-19 vaccines, you will need 2 shots in order for the vaccine to work effectively.  Your second appointment must be scheduled at the same location.

You may contact these sites to determine if you can obtain a more convenient appointment.

Remember, be patient!  Due to high demand and constrained vaccine supply, COVID-19 Vaccination appointments are limited. More appointments will be available based on supply from the Federal Government. Appointments will be added on a rolling basis.

About the vaccine:

  • The vaccines are safe and offer strong protection from COVID-19
  • The vaccines are more than 94% effective
  • You cannot get COVID-19 from a vaccine
  • The COVID-19 vaccine is especially important for older adults!

With vaccines available, there is certainly light at the end fo this pandemic tunnel.  But, until the vast majority of Chelsea residents are vaccinated, which will likely not be completed for several more months, we must all stay vigilant to keep the community safe.  That means continuing the safe practices that have helped us so far survive the pandemic:

  • Wearing face masks;
  • Keeping physical distancing from others;
  • Avoiding crowds;
  • Washing your hands regularly; and
  • Getting tested frequently.
