Applications Now Open for the AC Units Program

The City of Chelsea is pleased to announce the opening of the application period for the third round of the AC Unit Program. Funded with ARPA, this program helps residents beat the summer heat by providing free air conditioning units to eligible low-income households who meet the program’s criteria, regardless of their immigration status.

Due to a limited supply, the City will hold a weighted lottery to select recipients. Preference will be given to applicants/households who rent a room and have no AC unit at the moment of applying, veterans and individuals who are at higher risk of suffering from a heat-related event, such as seniors 65+, infants and children, pregnant women, and disabled residents.
