KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
Eviction is a legal process through the courts.

Your landlord cannot evict you without a court order. It is illegal for a landlord to change the locks, throw out your belongings or pressure you into leaving.

Receiving a 14 day notice does NOT mean you must leave your home after 14 days.

———————————————————————-

Notice of Regulation Change Mattresses and Textiles

The City of Chelsea will launch two new programs in November to help residents comply with the state’s updated solid waste regulations requiring the recycling of mattresses, box springs, and textiles such as clothing, bedding, towels, and footwear. The City will offer free curbside collection of these items so that they can be taken to specialized recyclers.

For mattresses and box springs, residents who receive municipal trash service can call our 311 call center to schedule a pick up for a Monday or Thursday. The City is contracting with Boston Carting and HandUp Us to collection and recycling.

For textiles, the City has signed an agreement with Helpsy, an organization that will pick up and recycle these items free of charge. Residents can call 311 or use the Helpsy website to schedule a curbside pickup for Tuesday of each week.

311 operators will be able to talk to residents about the type and condition of items before scheduling the pickup to ensure that only approved items are put our for collection.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2022, 10:30 AM. Join our walking tour of Jewish Chelsea, one of the most significant sites of American Jewish immigrant history.  In the early 20th century, Chelsea was “Little Jerusalem,” rivaled only by New York City as the most populous Jewish city per capita in the United States.   Visit historic synagogues, taste artisan bagels, and learn about the unique Chelsea immigrant community where Jewish immigrants prayed, raised families, conducted business, and laid the foundation for Jewish life in America today.  Starting location to be determined.  The tour lasts for two hours, indoors and outdoors, and is conducted by Ellen Rovner, Ph.D., a cultural anthropologist and Chelsea native.  CHELSEA JEWISH TOUR IS FREE FOR CHELSEA RESIDENTS, BUT REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
