Chelsea, It’s Time to Get the Lead Out (GLO)! / ¡Chelsea, es hora de sacar el plomo (GLO)!

Did you know the water💧pipe that runs from the street to your home could be made out of lead?
This pipe is called a “service line.” If you have a service line made of lead, lead might get into your drinking water. Lead in drinking water can have serious health risks, especially to children (schedule a blood lead test with your healthcare provider if they are under the age of six).
The Good News: The City of Chelsea, GreenRoots 🌳, and Clean Water Fund want to keep you safe. GreenRoots will knock on Maverick and Suffolk Street doors on September 25th, 26th, October 1st, and 2nd to set up appointments with the City Water Representatives to check for lead service lines.
The appointment is free and takes no more than 5 minutes!

Exciting news—LCC Grant applications open TOMORROW, September 1st! If you’ve got a project in mind, whether it’s a small idea or something bigger, this is your chance to get some funding.

  • Funding: Request $250 to $5,000 (or even more if you’ve got a big project!)
  • Who Can Apply:  Massachusetts-based individuals, artists, non-profit community groups, cultural  institutions, public agencies, and schools with a particular activity related to the arts, humanities, or sciences and has  public benefit. Applicants do not have to reside in Chelsea, but the activity must take place in Chelsea or be  directly intended for Chelsea residents.
  • Deadline: Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 11:59 PM (EST)

  • Financiación: solicita entre $250 y $5000 (o incluso más si tienes un proyecto grande).
  • Quién puede presentar una solicitud: personas, artistas, grupos comunitarios sin fines de lucro, instituciones culturales, agencias públicas y escuelas con sede en Massachusetts que realicen una actividad particular relacionada con las artes, las humanidades o las ciencias y que tenga un beneficio público. Los solicitantes no tienen que residir en Chelsea, pero la actividad debe realizarse en Chelsea o estar destinada directamente a los residentes de Chelsea.
