MLK Day Celebration

We hope you can join us on Monday, January 17, 2021 at the Clark Ave. Middle School to celebrate Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the accomplishments we have made together as one in our small but mighty city.  We overcome our challenges because we all work towards Justice for ALL, because We Are Tied Together.

Our city and school community is rich in diversity of languages, cultures, cuisines, families, and people. Our rich diversity brings us all together in Chelsea to make us a beautiful and beloved community. We are all connected and tied together as a community because of our diversity!

In Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s  “Letters from a Birmingham Jail”, Dr. King reminds us that “We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”

During these past two years of COVID, economic hardships, and social challenges we in Chelsea are reminded that we are all inescapably tied together – what affects one of us, affects all of us.

Breakfast will be served beginning at 9am and followed by the program at 10am.

We hope to see you all there!

Improving Community Outreach by the MBTA – Survey for Community Partners

Dear Community Partner,

Happy New Year to all of you from the MBTA’s Department of System-Wide Accessibility (SWA)!

The accessibility of the T has improved significantly in recent years and we’re excited that more changes are coming in 2022. However, we know that not everyone is aware of these changes and/or might not be able to share feedback with us.

Our team at SWA has been focused on improving and expanding our outreach to residents and riders, particularly older adults and those with disabilities, living in the T’s service district. Disparities still exist regarding access to the information we share – we’re looking to change that through a better understanding of how and where messaging is most easily and reliably received.

We know that older adults, individuals with disabilities, and/or non-native English speakers are better able to access information from trusted sources including family members, friends, or local community organizations that serve them. This is why we’re reaching out to organizations and leaders who might serve as a source of trusted information for both customers and other neighborhood organizations.

To help inform our work, we put together a short survey for our community partner organizations. We’d like to use your feedback to improve our communication processes and create new messaging tools to close the information gap.

  • Filling out the survey will take less than 10 minutes.
  • Survey will remain open till January 19, 2022.
  • Please feel free to share the link to the survey with your business partners.

Take the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CSZVPYC

In addition to this community organization survey, in February we’ll release a survey designed for residents and customers only. We’d also appreciate your help in distributing that survey to your customers when the time comes.

If you have any questions, please contact us at swa@mbta.com.

Thank you very much for your participation and we appreciate your continued support!
