The week of March 7, 2022, administrators at Chelsea High School honored Students and Staff members of the Week. This week’s recipients included:

  • Jaylee Ortiz – CHS Student
“Jaylee is a talented artist whose art graces the walls of CHS. Check out her mural in Ms Murphy’s office and the new one on the 2nd floor blue! Thank you, Jaylee, for your beautiful contributions to our school.”
  • Walter Abrego Flores – CHS Student

“Has been an excellent scientist – did an especially GREAT job doing the bacterial DNA gel electrophoresis. He has been a great support for others with lab skills and content! All around wonderful student and scientist.”

  • Rachel Barlage – CHS Lead

“Rachel is an outstanding lead, but we’d particularly like to recognize her efforts for the Acceleration Academy last week! THANK YOU, Rachel!”

  • CHS Kitchen Staff
“Our kitchen staff is a dedicated and hard working group! We appreciate all of their efforts to keep our students (and staff) well fed!”

The weekly honorees received Recognition Certificates, and were honored in front of the main office on Monday morning. Staff and students designed a bulletin board outside of the main office where photos of the weekly winners will be displayed along with other celebratory items.

Every week, CHS will be honoring new students and staff members for their contributions to the school community!

The Kiwanis Club has generously organized a fun-filled (and grown-ups only;-) fundraiser to support Apollinaire Play Lab and the Kiwanis Club of Chelsea!

You’re invited! It’s 1923, and the party seems endless at Jay Glittersby’s New York mansion—until a shot rings out, and an unwelcome guest is found dead. Was the motive revenge, jealousy, or greed? Is the murderer a flapping dancer, a jazzy musician, or a slyly deferential server?
Maybe it will be—YOU!
Please join us on March 31st—either as a suspect character or as a jury member who sees everything—for a Roaring ‘20s Virtual Murder Mystery Fundraiser via Zoom! It’s a joint fundraiser to support the Apollinaire Play Lab and our friends at the Chelsea Kiwanis Club. The Chelsea Kiwanis Club champions a variety of philanthropic and service projects to assist the children and families of Chelsea, including the Apollinaire Play Lab. You may also have seen Kiwanis’ recent diaper drive which raised $2,000 to purchase diapers for Chelsea families in need. Your support of this fundraiser helps two great organizations accomplish much for the children of Chelsea!
Can you figure out who dunnit? Whether you choose a fun role or sit back and observe as a member of the jury, everyone attending the event has a chance to win a cash prize for being the first to correctly guess the murderer, the motive, and the means!
Step 1: Choose your role (and purchase raffle tickets!). You will be emailed easy instructions and a dossier on your character. All registered participants will be sent a Zoom link the week of the event.
Step 2: Choose your virtual Zoom background from this glamorous gallery. Does the library suit you, or is the billiard room more your style?
Step 3: Get yourself into character (if only from the waist up!) with some classic Gatsby-esque costume ideas. Key words: Dapper and flapper!
Step 4: Organize your refreshment whether it’s champagne, gin and juice, or just juice. Malden Center Fine Wines can help you with your cocktail & champagne needs. Remember, delivery is FREE within a 5-mile radius of their store (including Chelsea, Everett, Revere, Somerville, Medford, etc.)
Step 5: Zoom in with us on the evening of Thursday, March 31st! There will be prizes for solving the case, best costume, exciting and valuable raffles, and more!
We hope to see you there!
