EMERGENCY SCHOOL FOOD PROGRAM
Chelsea Massachusetts
Governor Baker has ordered that all schools in Massachusetts, including Chelsea
Public Schools, will be closed until Tuesday, April 7th
, 2020, if not longer. While
Chelsea schools are closed, free lunch and breakfast for children and youth will be
provided on week days at seven different locations.
Food will be “grab and go” which means that participants will pick up a
bagged lunch and breakfast, and can take it home with them. The
following procedures will be in place:
– Wait quietly and respectfully in line
– Maintain a separation of 6 feet between yourself and the next family group
– All children in Chelsea are eligible
– Children do not need to be present for families to pick up a meal
– Meals will be available between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm
You should go to the site closest to your home. There is no need to go to your
child’s school site – the meals at all locations will be the same. We ask that
participants walk or take alternative modes of transportation to the site nearest to
your home. Parking at these sites is limited.
Emergency School Food Program Locations are:
– Early Learning Center courtyard (Shurtleff Street side)
– Mary C. Burke Complex Parking Lot
– Williams Middle School Parking Lot
– Clark Avenue Middle School front entrance
– Chelsea High School front entrance
– St. Rose School courtyard
– Voke Park (Washington Avenue)
These sites are subject to change, but signs will be posted directing people to other
sites if this occurs.

El Gobernador Baker ordenó que todas las escuelas de Massachusetts, incluidas las

Emergency Task Force to Call for Immediate Action from Gov. Baker, Attorney General Healey, and the Legislature to Address Equity in the Face of Epidemic

WHAT:
The Emergency Task Force on Coronavirus & Equity will call for urgent action from Governor Baker, Attorney General Healey, and the Legislature on four state policy priorities to address the disproportionate impact of the coronavirus outbreak on communities already experiencing marginalization, including low-wage workers, immigrants, and people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.
The Task Force, convened by the Massachusetts Public Health Association on March 17th, is calling on Governor Baker, Attorney General Healey & the Legislature to:
- Ensure Immigrants Have Safe Access to Testing & Treatment
- Ensure Everyone Has Access to Safe Quarantine
- Pass Emergency Paid Sick Time
- Enact a Moratorium on Evictions, Foreclosures & Termination of Public Benefits
86 organizations have endorsed the call to action, including leading civil rights, grassroots, public health, medical, labor, and social service organizations.
