Chalk Art Saturdays Launches This Weekend / Los Sábados de Arte en Tiza (Chalk Art Saturdays) comienzan este fin de semana
Chalk Art Saturdays Launches This Weekend
Kicking off this Saturday, June 13, Chalk Art Saturdays is a community art project from Chelsea Prospers with the help of Studioful Design. For six Saturdays in June and July, Chelsea residents are all invited to make chalk art in public spaces near their homes, with each weekend having a different theme.
A different local artist will also be commissioned each Saturday morning to create a large chalk mural somewhere in the City (you can find out where by checking Chelsea Prospers Instagram or Facebook page). Hundreds of chalk sets will be shared with residents across the city so that everyone can take part. Want one for your neighborhood? Email Mimi Graney at mgraney@chelseama.gov.
This Saturday’s theme is “Imagine Racial Justice” in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Artist and Chelsea High School student Sinai Galicia is our inaugural artist. You can see Sinai’s previous artwork on Instagram.
