2022 Black History Month Calendar Of Events: Health And Wellness

Hello Beloved Community,

We are ready to celebrate 2022 Black History Month! I hope each and every one of you will be a part of the four most interesting and engaging virtual events. The year’s national BHM theme is Health and Wellness throughout the African Diaspora. The 2022 theme considers activities, rituals, and initiatives that Black communities have practiced in an effort to maintain health and well being. It also takes a look at how the American healthcare system has often under served the African American.

The the kick off event, “Connecting the Past to the Present”  and “Hidden Figures from Black History.”  will run through the month of February at two locations, Downtown Gallery 456 (Broadway) and Chelsea Public Library.  The vast collection of photos is an eye opener to the many contributions of Blacks who remained mostly unknown by the general public. These individuals made tremendous contribution to America and deserve to be remembered. Please make it a point to visit both displays.

The remaining featured Calendar of Events (please refer to attachment) throughout the month will be Engaging, Educational, and Enriching. Our GRAND FINALE is always the closest celebration to our heart, “Chelsea Trailblazer” Recognition! We will roll out the Red Carpet in honoring six phenomenal men and women “hidden figures” who continue to lead, committed to community wellness and creating effective solutions for the betterment of our whole community. We will celebrate them as one!

So, mark the dates on your calendar and SHARE the events with your friends, family, and coworkers.  The Zoom Link (same for all events) is included at the top of the calendar page below. There is also a QR code you may access as a direct link into events on the calendar. (See attachment)

Chelsea Black Community is looking forward to hosting all of you at these amazing upcoming events for Black History Month 2022. Thank you! Donations accepted.

Beginning tomorrow Wednesday, February 2, COVID-19 testing will move from the St Rose School location to a new site located in the Parking Plaza Shopping Center off of Webster Avenue, specifically in the former Save-A-Lot location (1100 Revere Beach Parkway) next to Home Depot.

COVID-19 testing hours will remain the same, seven days a week from 1:00-5:00 pm. All testing will be free, regardless of insurance or immigration status, and no appointments are required.

The Parking Plaza offers plenty of public parking for people to use. This location is also accessible via public transportation:

El sitio de prueba seguirá estando abierto los siete días de la semana de 1 a 5 de la tarde. Las pruebas son gratuitas, independientemente del seguro o el estado migratorio, y no se requieren citas. Cualquiera puede “caminar” para recibir una prueba.

Parking Plaza ofrece una gran cantidad de estacionamiento público para uso de las personas. Esta ubicación también es accesible a través del transporte público:
