Job Description

Location: Chelsea/E. Boston Corps
Number of Openings: 2
Hours: 20 hrs/week, 40 hrs/week during school vacations and summer
Pay Rate: $15.00/hr

Under supervision of the Site Coordinator, the group leader is responsible for the daily programs, safety and well-being of the children. The group leader will work closely with the Site Coordinator, bringing to his/her attention concerns that relate to the children and/or the program.


Qualifications

Must be at least18 years of age and meet one of the following OCCS sets of requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree, and have three months of experience working with school age children; or
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent; and have six months of experience working with school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program, or
  • Have nine (9) months experience with school age children including three months supervised experience at a school age childcare program.
  • Must be able to plan, prepare, and implement the day-to-day activities
  • Responsible for assuring a high level and enthusiasm when working with the children
  • Responsible for working with the Site Coordinator and other staff to assure the safety of the children enrolled in the program
  • Ability to communicate any and all problems or concerns to the Site Coordinator, who will inform the Administrator

Housing Families Expanding Homelessness Prevention and Free Legal Services in Chelsea

The City of Chelsea, through its Department of Housing & Community Development, and Housing Families are pleased to announce an expansion of housing legal services and housing stability programs for Chelsea residents confronting housing insecurity.
Through the legal clinic, residents experiencing evictions, disputes, and code issues can seek assistance from Housing Families’ attorneys and housing specialists. The City will coordinate services through the Eviction Task Force, in close collaboration with community based organizations, such as Housing Families, La Colaborativa, CAPIC, and The Neighborhood Developers.
As part of this partnership, Housing Families will imminently open a new office at 99 4th Street in Chelsea that’s accessible by public transit to meet the housing and eviction prevention needs of Chelsea residents, including free legal help, utility and rental assistance, case management, and emergency housing. Chelsea residents can receive assistance regardless of immigration status, income, or background.
Chelsea residents seeking legal services and financial assistance may contact Housing Families’ Chelsea office of the Homelessness Prevention & Legal Services Program at (781) 322-9119 x146 or probonolegalteam@housingfamilies.org. Staff are multilingual in Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, and Haitian Creole.
Residents can also visit the pop-up Housing and Legal Services Clinic at Chelsea City Hall, Room 102, every Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at La Colaborativa, 318 Broadway, every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
